How do we make clothes?

Embroidery

Using our embroider machine

Embroidery is the art of stitching designs onto fabric using thread to create texture and detail. This process involves using a needle and thread to form patterns, often with raised or tactile elements that can provide a satisfying sensory experience. Different thread types, such as soft cotton or silky rayon, offer unique textures, while backing materials can add structure or flexibility. For our sensory clothing, embroidery adds both decorative and functional elements, allowing for subtle, touch-friendly details that feel as good as they look.

Screen Printing

Using acetate, screens, and ink

Screen printing is a method of transferring ink onto fabric through a mesh screen, using a stencil to block out areas where the ink shouldn’t go. The ink sits on top of the fabric rather than soaking in, creating a slightly raised texture that can add an extra sensory element. We use a variety of inks, including soft-touch and puff inks, to enhance the feel of the design. Screen printing is a great way to add bold patterns and sensory-friendly visuals to clothing, creating engaging textures without compromising comfort.

Badgemaking

Using a Vevor Button Machine

Badgemaking is a simple but effective way to add personalised details to clothing and accessories. Using a press, we encase printed designs in plastic and metal to create durable badges. These can include smooth or textured finishes, and some designs even incorporate fabric or embroidered elements for extra sensory appeal. Badges are a great way to introduce personal expression without altering the clothing itself, offering a removable, customisable sensory-friendly option.

Sewing

Using sewing machines

Sewing is the foundation of clothing construction, allowing us to create, repair, and adapt garments to be more sensory-friendly. Using different stitches and fabrics, we ensure that seams lie flat, textures are comfortable, and sensory-friendly adjustments—such as hidden seams or soft linings—are included. The feel of different fabrics is key, so we work with materials that offer a variety of tactile experiences, from smooth and cooling to soft and fuzzy, ensuring every piece feels just right.

3D Printing

Using a Flash Forge Creator 3D Printer

3D printing allows us to create custom fidget toys designed specifically for sensory regulation. Using PLA or flexible TPU filaments, we print objects with varied textures, satisfying resistance, and interactive elements such as spinning or clicking parts. These fidget tools are designed with sensory needs in mind, offering a discreet, portable way to self-regulate through touch.
